The AWSOM Project is a drowning prevention charity in Vietnam founded and run by some of the Swim School team at Beatty Park.

The project, which started in 2012, is a swimming and water safety program for children with disability. Donations cover the cost of children to attend swimming classes throughout the year.

Mark Chater, a Centre Supervisor and Lifeguard at Beatty Park, has always shown great interest in the AWSOM Project over the years.

Recently, Mark set about to gather donations. He got in touch with our lifeguard crew via their social media group and asked for their help. Thanks to his efforts and the generous donations from our lifeguard team, 11 kids have now received full sponsorships and will benefit from weekly swimming lessons.

These lessons may one day save their lives … or the life of another! The children will also get the opportunity to enjoy the pool every week and have a bit of fun, socialise and improve their health and fitness.

What an amazing effort! On behalf of the AWSOM team both here and in Vietnam, a massive thank you to everyone who has contributed.
