Rotto Swim Record Breakers

Congratulations to two of our lifeguards, Jack Wilson and Kaiden Richings.

Dubbed 'The Hungry Boys', the pair competed as a duo at the 33rd annual Rottnest Channel Swim on Saturday February 25.

A total of 2582 participants competed in solo, duo and team events, which sees the swimmers cover 19.7 kilometres between Cottesloe Beach and Rottnest Island.

Jack and Kaiden won the duo event in a landslide victory, completing the swim in 3 hours and 42 minutes.

Not only did they win their race, they also smashed the previous record by over 13 minutes!

Kaiden, who also participated in our winning team in the 2022 Pool Lifeguard Challenge, said "We are super proud to cement our names into the history book as record holders. Under good conditions we were able to break the previous record, the prize we had set our eyes on when entering the event."

The result is a testament to the skill and endurance of our lifeguards.

Special shoutout to ex Beatty Park swim instructor Chloe Truscott, who won the women's solo for the third time in a row, beating the previous record by around 7 minutes.

Well done to all the Perth City swimmers and Beatty Park members who also competed in this year's Rottnest Channel Swim.
