We are set to welcome a new Chief Executive Officer, David MacLennan, who brings international experience and a strong and diverse public sector background to Vincent.

“David is a highly qualified public service executive, having recently worked at Assistant Director General level within the State Government in the area of planning. His responsibilities included state planning policy and major projects such as shaping the major planning reform initiative, Design WA,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“In his current role of Special Adviser - Economic Development on the Westport Taskforce, he is leading the development of the economic case for Westport, a major State infrastructure project.”

“Prior to joining the WA public service, David had a successful career in the Commonwealth Public Service and rose steadily through the ranks of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. His roles included several overseas postings, such as Deputy Head of Mission in Mexico City, a stint with the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, followed by time with the Australian High Commission in London,” she said.

David MacLennan holds a Bachelor of Arts (Politics and Economics) and a Master of Management.

“David brings new skills and experience to the City of Vincent, and has chosen local government as the new frontier in his extensive public service career,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“David is keen to join the City of Vincent as a dynamic local government, and to drive real and meaningful outcomes for our community and to strive for innovation within our sector.”

“He has demonstrated strong capabilities in strategic and operational management, a passion for people and outstanding project management skills. We are excited to welcome David as our new CEO,” she said.

“It is an honour to be appointed the City of Vincent CEO and a great opportunity to work with the Vincent Council and community. I look forward to building on Len’s achievements in establishing the City of Vincent as an effective, responsible and innovative leader in local government,” David MacLennan said.

David MacLennan’s appointment follows on from the announcement in April of current CEO, Len Kosova, that he would be resigning from the City of Vincent at the end of September to spend more time with his family and explore new opportunities. Len gave extended notice to allow for a smooth transition for the City.

“We’ve been so lucky to enjoy four years of Len at the helm of our administration. Our Council greatly value the many achievements Len has realised over this time and the cohesive and collegiate relationship we have built as Team Vincent. We are looking forward to continuing this culture of ‘can do’ and collaboration into the future with David MacLennan in the role”, said Mayor Emma Cole.

David MacLennan will commence as CEO with the City of Vincent in mid-October.
