ABOUT Beatty Park

Located just 3km north of the CBD, Beatty Park has been a much-loved part of Perth since 1962.

Owned and operated by the City of Vincent, Beatty Park Leisure Centre has a rich history in Perth. The centre was originally built for the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games and was heritage-listed in 2004. 

Today, Beatty Park is one of the largest leisure centres in Perth, with a huge range of health and fitness facilities for people of all ages and abilities to work out and feel well.

Refurbishments

We've undergone a lot of change over the years!

  • 2021-2022

    Upgrades to the tune of $2.9 million were recently undertaken in the indoor pool area. The upgrades included new tiling featuring laser-engraved Aboriginal artwork, installation of a giant tipping bucket, water spray arches and water fountains, on-deck showers, changing cubicles and a new water treatment system. Two new water slides were opened in April 2022. Construction of accessible changerooms is still underway.

  • 2013

    A $17 million dollar redevelopment of the facility commenced in late 2011, after nearly 6 years of planning. This was completed in March 2013. This long awaited upgrade included a new two-level extension including a new entrance and top-floor gym, pool upgrades and more. Click here to read more about the 2013 upgrades.

  • 1993

    A total refurbishment took place in 1993, with the best of the old being combined with an exciting new facility. Beatty Park Leisure Centre re-opened in July 1994 and comprised a 50 metre 8-lane outdoor heated pool, a 30 metre heated dive pool, a 25 metre heated indoor lap pool with adjoining water playground, water slides,  freeform pool, sauna, spa and steam room, gymnasium, aerobics room, circuit gym, retail shop, cafe, crèche, office space and a series of activity rooms. The Centre also had spectator seating for approximately 5000 people.

Beatty Park has achieved numerous prestigious acknowledgements including:

  • 2023 winner of the Safer Swimming Award from the Australian Swim Schools Association
  • 2022 winner of the Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard Challenge
  • 2021 recipient of Gold Waterwise status at the Water Corporation Waterwise Awards
  • 2020 winner of the Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard Challenge
  • 2017 National Award of Excellence in Inclusive Swimming from the Australian Swim Schools Association
  • 2015 SWIM ECO Award from Swim Australia for environmental practices at the facility
  • 2011 winner of the Australian Swim Teachers and Coaches award for Outstanding Community Service
  • 2011 Awards of Excellence from the City of Vincent for the Angelfish program
  • 2004 Beatty Park became the 1000th entry on the State Register of Heritage Places
